Vol. 3,4 and The Epilogue
The story -we saw, how Pierre created his Family by marrying with Natasha and also helped the Rostov family to clear all there depths and Moved to St. George city, in Russia ,he also took care of his Friend's child, they finally move to a safe place to rescue themselves from The cold bearing weather of Moscow and also from the Threat's of Napoleon Bonaparte.
While on the Other hand Napoleon and his army suffered a heavy loss , due to the cold weather and no food., though they were strong enough, but they couldn't survive, the cold weather.
The Story of Volume 3 and 4-
It was finally a time when Nicholas and his wife settled in the kingbush street and started living there family life, they were finally blessed with a girl child (name of child is not mentioned here), so In order to take care of family and fulfill there needs, Nicholas joined a Academy of army, there he used to train comrades and other army men, about battlefields, strategy and other things that needs to be taken care in war, His commander and general secretary was impressed by the deeds of Nicholas, so they offered him a great post in the Army and he became Rich , On the other hand we see that Count Rostov died due to health issues and his old age and the plot further moves, On a day, while buying some fruits , Pierre meets with a man, his name was kutuzov, he was a few of prisoner's when Prince Andre was Injured in the part -1, kutuzov and Pierre became close friends, kutuzov helped Pierre to find a better job and also helped him to establish his royal state further, kutuzov is a special new character in the Novel and also a mere helper to Pierre ("Leo Tolstoy didn't mentioned why he kept this character as a Silent voice from the first two volumes, until we came to know that Kutuzov was brother of Antony, who had affaired with Pierre's first wife, Helena"). After sometime, when Pierre came to know about Antony and Helena's Relationship he became angry and again started his rivallary. On the other hand, Antony always cursed Pierre for Helena's death, but he made his mind to kill Pierre, On one night Antony visited Pierre's house, where Pierre has gone for a country estate meeting with his fellow investors and business colleagues. Antony always cursed Pierre for Helena's Death. so in sort of revenge killed Natasha (Pierre's wife) and her daughter and ran from there. On the next morning when Pierre comes back to his house, he sees the dead bodies of her wife and Daughter and he cried at once with sudden wild abandonement and was full of anger , he rushed to kutuzov's house, red eyed to kill Antony, but he was not there, he beats Kutuzov and breaks all industrial and Professional business relations with him and went further in search of Antony to kill him. While leaving the house, he sees portrait of Antony and Helena together, where Antony was dressed as general Secretary of Napoleon's Army.
The Epilogue -
Unlike other writer's, Leo Tolstoy divided his Epilogues in two Parts, The First Part is about climax and revenge, while the second Part is about settlement and after rewards.
Before beginning the two Epilogues , first see the two important characters who weren't active in the story but changed the scenario throughout the novel. In the First two Volumes Lisa (Wife of Prince Andre, who died due to giving birth to his child) changed the scenario from love to Hatred for Pierre and In the Vol. 3 and 4. We see, Kutuzov, who again changed the Scenario for Pierre from love to Natasha, to again hatred for Antony and Helena. And finally ended up by creating a sort of Revenge in the climax.
The First Part-
The scene now shifts from St. George street to a barren land of Buxemberge , where The battle of Buxemberge happened in the year 1865. which is the final battle between Alexander First and Napoleon Bonaparte. The battle itself is not as important as how Pierre kills Antonio, The battle lasted for Three nights and finally in the end of Second Night , Pierre disguised as a Soldier goes to General Secretary camp's (Antonys camp's) and killed him, took his revenge and also of her wife and Daughter but he was not satisfied with his Deed. He wanted to kill Napoleon also because of him, His Friend Prince Andre died, but as said, Pierre didn't realize the fact he hasn't that much potential to go and kill Napoleon himself as he is always surrounded by a grid of Soldiers always. so, Pierre was caught and was hanged till death by Napoleon's Army and he died. In the same battle, Alexander First Died due to the betrayal of one of his court Generals but the fact stays true, that if one of the court Generals didn't betrayed Alexander, then no one could kill Alexander so easily, cause
Napoleon already suffered a huge loss, less food and hunger, and then severe cold in Moscow. This was itself one of the First defeats of Russia in the history.
The second Part -
As most of themes of the Novel are over, there's nothing much left in the second epilogue, but as Antony died, Napoleon Bonaparte suffered a huge loss which he can never gain back and also left everything which he won in Russia and went back to Europe, after a loss over 57,000 soldier died in his Army and he also lost all his comrades and settimentals, this was his last battle as a king and he never fought again. It is also said as true as, Napoleon convinced of the court general of Alexander army to kill the king, as same as after some year's Some of the Napoleon court's used some kind of Poison in Napoleon's food, due to which got suffered with a disease called peptic Ulcer and died. The Rostov's family and all there children have well settled in life and and also have good family, earnings and kids. Pierre and Prince Andre were the two important characters in the Novel who gained losses with Peace.
A Note from Critics -
As we talk about any Novel, It is always important to see, what the critics review the creation as , so The Novel "War and Peace " perfectly explained The meaning of Peace after a War, whether it is a battle between two Kingdoms, Two Nations , or even two couples, The Peace is always attained if we either clear the sort of Disturbances (Confusion) or we ended up messing things and urge to a war zone situation, but in the End what we get is a Peace irrespective of whether we gained something ,or lost something, It is respect to our deeds how we urge in those conditions, likewise if we think here,Prince Andre Instead of Diverting Pierre's mind from Love and Affection to hate in marriage not only Disputed his marriage life but also his own life too, he could even go to Lisa and talk to her directly about the possible issues that they both were facing together, in the relationship but he ended up with Hatred with his own wife, and later regreted upon himself when her wife died during giving birth to his child. On the other Side, Pierre was a wise person and his wife Helena though had relations with other people in past, but she was true to her Husband, infact when first time Pierre asked her "Do you loved someone before?", without thinking she replied yes, because she was always wanted to be true to Pierre but Instead of Believing his Own Wife, Pierre believed towards fake societies thought and cursed Helena for her past, Out of which, They both didn't got anything from it, and later died whereas, if we see Nicholas and her wife Maria, they both lived together and Happily cause they never had any sort of Confusion within there life and even if one is there, Like in, act 3, scene 5 and act 4, scene 6. Nicholas always stood towards her wife's side and cleared the sort of Disputes.
So, here's the end infront of you, about the greatest Creation of English Literature , The War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy.
